School Experience Day – Brighton Hill Community School

Are you thinking about kick-starting an exciting new career in teaching? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you to learn all you need to know about teaching within a secondary school. Getting some classroom experience can help you to decide whether teaching is right for you and it could also strengthen your application.  

Programme for the day:

08.25 – Arrival.  Tour of the school with students

08.45 – Welcome – Chris Edwards, Head teacher.  Key Themes in Education – Jane Halsey, Deputy Head teacher

09.35 – Training in our school – Sophie Hallum Barnard, ITTCo.  The training year – ITT trainee and NQT.

10.25 – Convenience break

10.40 – Lesson observation in faculty of specialism

11.30 – Lesson observation in faculty of specialism

12.20 – Meet the students – Q&A session

12.50 – Year 7 Community lunch

13.20 – Time in faculty – focus on National Curriculum, GCSE specifications and Schemes of Learning

14.20 – Reflection on the day – Sophie Hallum Barnard, ITTCo.  Q&A session
